So is it coming any time soon? It's coming is a bit ambiguous, How about at least an alphabetical pagination bar across the top of the media browser? I'm sure rearranging the entire Media Browser GUI to accommodate a search box, etc...is quite the task. Pagination should be easy though yes?

Well then my apologies, obviously i haven't explored the program well enough these last few years.
I'm talking of course about searching through my movies via the TV or bluray player interface not the web browser. Is there a search function somewhere that can be accessed when browsing through my media library via my TV?

That is not a function of Serviio, it has to be implemented by your player. I've never seen such a feature, but that doesn't mean there isn't one that does it.

Serviio doesn't implement DLNA search, precisely because I don't know about any device that actually uses it.

Forgive my ignorance but I'll try my best to describe the situation and maybe get some clarification.
When I change the source on my Samsung TV Serviio pops up as an option.

I select it. The screen the proceeds to populate with all of my movie folder and individual movies. I then have to scroll movie by movie and folder by folder to get to the movie i want to play.

At the point where the screen is populated with my movies is there no way to implement a search or pagination function?

The user interface (UI) is controlled completely by your TV. There is nothing that Serviio can do to add a search button or procedure on your TV screen.

Now if you were using a web browser built into the TV, you could connect to the web based MediaBrowser built into Serviio, then use the tools that are provided there. But the TV DLNA UI is controlled completely by the TV manufacturer.

Now, something that might help you is something that I use. I have over 650 movies and 1500 TV episodes on my server, so browsing can be time consuming. However, Serviio support Playlists. This is a file that lists specific titles that you might want to access often, and lists them in the same order that the playlist has them in. For example, I have a playlist built with all my Star Wars movies. So there's only six titles to browse and can select them quickly.

It's still not a search function, but does help you get to you favorites faster. There is a free Windows program called Playlist Creator that makes it very simple to create the playlist files, and you can make as many as you like.

Also, if you are looking for a specific title, don't browse the "Movies" selection on your TV. Instead use "Titles", which gives you the first letter of the movie title to shorten the list. That way, if the movie you want starts with "R", and you only have 6 movies that start with "R", after you choose the R folder you have everything quickly available.
