I would like to see a denotation for 3D movies in the DB / MediaBrowser.
I have many 3D Movies, and sometimes have the standard movie as well. It would be nice to easily see what 3D movies i have.
To help Searching for this topic: Stereoscopic, Three Dimensional, 3DSBS, 3DTB, 3DUD.

They are just normal files. Even TV cannot distinguish them. One must press 3D button to play them in 3D.
Here is ffmpeg and Mediainfo output.

only common thing that can be used is: '3D' in title or better from metadata:
Input #0, matroska,webm, from 'Top.Gun.3D.mkv':

So is it not possible to make Serviio look at the filename and remember some details before parsing it to ffmpeg or online sources?
For example: "Movie.mkv" gets listed as "Movie" and "Movie [3D].mkv" gets listed as "Movie [3D]" ?
I have posted a related question earlier:

Only issue I can see with taking it from the title is for the film Piranha 3D and 3DD (Both crap films)
So would probably need to distinguish between that and a 3D film by having brackets around the 3D ie [3D]

I have an idea as a workaround. My apologies if you're already using it
Enable the Folders option on the presentation panel, then make a single folders that contain only 3D videos. Not the most elegant way, but at least when you want specifically to choose something 3D, they're all in one place. Of course, they will be in the normal lists as well, without being noted as 3D. Like a said, just a workaround for the time being.

I have been using a Folder called 3D and trying to store all my 3D stuff in that, but they still show up in all the other menus.
I would like to see Serviio search the File name for something like (3DSBS | 3DTB | 3DUD) or maybe a configurable string.
Anyway i do most of the suggested stuff now anyway, just it gets a little complicate trying to enplane all that to the Wife n kids...

Perhaps someone may want to raise a bitbucket request for it (and others vote):
https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/issues/ My two cents: I think it may work if you had a marker in the filename - "3D", delimited by dots or spaces. It may then be possible for Serviio to:
- search the online sources excluding the "3D" from the search.
- append "3D" to the title returned by the online search
- possibly add an additional "3D" genre to that returned by the search
There is a flaw in the plan however: note there are movies in the TMDb database that already contain the phrase 3D or 3-D in the title so more thinking needs to be done on how to handle that. Of course, raising the issue doesn't mean it will get done in the short term - there are many competing priorities.

I like the solution posted by DenyAll, and i added a comment to the Bitbucket page here:

OK, however the issue you commented against wasn't related to 3D video or how to add metadata specific to 3D movies. Illico's issue was related to 3D
image files (.mpo).
Also, although I agree with the comment 'As for the movies with 3D in the title that arn't 3D... they suck.. so who cares' - its a personal taste thing so somebody, somewhere will care (and who knows, they may actually make a good 3-D movie one day....)

I have a solution.
Here is what i do.
I have a Folder named "Movies"
in it is a sub folder called "3D Movies"
Each time i add a 3D film to it i go off on the internet and find a 3D DVD Cover for that film.
Then i name the .jpg exactly the same as whatever my film is called.
Now when i click Movies category within Serviio, i have 2 films with the same name BUT the 3D one has a 3D cover

DukeUK - a good workaround solution.
I have created a separate bitbucket issue for this at
https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... -3d-movies and incorporated an idea from
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15477. Please note that I have only facilitated this - I do not have a particular requirement for this feature (having no devices that support 3D) so if you think it has merit you may want to vote on that site. As stated above, this doesn't mean it will get done in the short term - there are many competing priorities.

- Code:
[matroska @ 00000000003DA1F0]Unknown entry 0x53B8
If it is muxed with side by side: left first (1; side_by_side_left... for the video stream with mkvmerge
There might be a range of unknown entries for this...
Or if the word 3D och (SBS eller OU), for side by side and over under respectively, is contained in the name.
symbols: 3dII or 3D= only small squares instead of lines. to mark sbs and ou.
But a 3d symbol on titles that have 3D in the path would be appreciated.
