Direct streaming of DVD and Blueray

I miss the possibility to direct stream DVD or Blueray content from the player built in to the server. This way it wouldn't be necessary to always first rip the content and one could only put the disk to the drive and enjoy the movie on the renderers.

you can do thjis already ( sort of ) just add the dvd/blueray drive location to the serviio library as a shared location and then insert dvd/bluray dick and refresh library, you should then be able to see the VOB files on your device. BUT everytime you remove/change the dvd/bluray disk in the drive teh library would have to be force refreshed :)

Tried to play my new Peter Kay DVD last night by inserting into my PC disc drive and entering D:\ to my library on Serviio, but alas, when I tried to view it, having refreshed the library of course,I had a mixed up pixilated screen and totally unwatchable. So, did I not understand something correctly perhaps ?

Or maybe it would be as well if I just bought a separate DVD player I suppose.

I never tried this. It's possible the DVD is not quick enough.

I've just read this from ffmpeg main page

FFmpeg development has gone into OVERDRIVE. Over the years we have missed patches, so we need your help to locate old unapplied patches to review again.

If you find a patch that was never applied, please let us know, either by resubmitting it to ffmpeg-devel or by attaching it to a bug on our bug tracker.

For example, did you know there was a patch to read DVDs with FFmpeg? Its now being reviewed and fixed up for inclusion. Want to add BluRay support? We're interested!
