Serviio

Good Night.

My name is Miguel, and I am from Arteixo (Spain). I discovered Serviio because I need an DLNA server to use on mi MacMini and mi MacBook to connect with an LG BD670. After try several softwares, I think Serviio is the best by large, but it will be better with a function very simple to add... Just on the screen to assign profiles to devices add a new option to "ban" (make that a specific device cannot access to data).

Currently I solved with firewall rules, but the changes to implement the function on the main interface (the Serviio Console) probably will be a "most elegant" solution for every kind of users.

Finally, I want to sorry myself because my poor english and thanks a lot to the developer and all the people involved on this wonderful software.

After reading those posts and the tickets that have been opened by users, I think my solution can help someone else using Mac OS X.

My particular case is that I don't want any other host than my LG BD670 (local IP 192.168.1.186) access to serviio contents; so I installed WaterRoof (a GUI to configure the MacOS firewall) and create two rules.



Simple and fine working solution; now no one on the LAN can access to mi contents!

I'd really like to know how to do this on my mac, my LAN ips are completely different 10.0.1.1 from my AirPort

do it same as he has it, but replace his ips 192.168.1.1 with yours 10.0.1.1 as they are both valid internal ip address's just your are in US style and his are in UK style

You must config your airport device to make that it assigns always the same IP to the MAC ADRESS of the devices you want to control; usually (I've never used an airport, my router is a Huawei HG556a provided by ISP Vodafone Spain). At this point I can't help you, but in the manual of your router Airport should be all the info you can need to do it.

After that, you must configure WaterProof with the IPs selected.

If you assign 10.0.1.2 to your DLNA client you must replace 192.168.1.186 on the rules, and if you have more than one device add a new line (BEFORE the DENY one) with the correspondent IP direction.

Finally, on the DENY line (which must be the last one!) replace 192.168.0.0/16 for 10.0.0.0/16 and it should work properly.
