On the TV, is this channel/video using FFMPEG or not?

Hi,
It would be great to at the TV screen, be able to see if the currently viewed streams/videos, are currently using FFMPEG, transocoding or not.
I belive FFMPEG usage and transcoding can vary depending on Screen resolution and depending on which TV device is being used.
It would help a lot in tweaking, fault tracing and sortting ut prefred media streams/videos formats.
Thanks

thanks, but that thread speaks of a diffrent feature, predicting transcoding usage, before stream/video is started.
I am simply suggestin it would be of great value to see, during viewing, if transcoding is actively being done or not, on the TV device.
Which shold be much simper than predicting.
Thanks

I think that would be extremely difficult to implement as each device would have to be capable of displaying that infomation and will probably have different ways of doing so. Also most people will not use this feature so there would have to be a way of turning it off. I suppose it could be burned into a transcoded stream then have the option to enable/disable it in the serviio console that way it should work on all renderers and please everyone.

OK, thanks!
I thought it would be easy, to show a JPEG, or Black symbol, or zero bits, in pattern, image for 1 second, during the intitation of every Transcoding, FFMPEG start. That way you would know, at the TV side.
Not intrusive, but very useful in thse mixed Videos/Live Stream/Plugin/No_plugin enviroment.

I dont even think ffmpeg would support it as it cant even burn subs into video streams at the moment to watch on my ps3 so not sure if ffmpeg would support it in the first place but Zip would know more.

ffmpeg would support it but it would not work for remuxing for example.

what would be ideal is if we had a little box somewhere on the console stating either transcoding, remuxing or native to know what its doing at a glance but knowing from the renderer side i dont think its enough of a major thing to be implemented.
