thx,

I'm also very interested in FLAC format support. I have my whole library in FLAC format, and would like to use Serviio... but I'm not wild on having to create a second copy of everything in mp3 format... plus I do like keeping my audio lossless when possible.

Is there any chance of seeing this in the future? Or is the FLAC community small enough that it doesn't make it to the top of the priority list?

Great news :) If you ever need someone to test functionality, I'm willing to help.

Is this something that's harder than it seems? I was thinking it ought to be straightforward, since FFMPEG can transcode FLAC to PCM WAV which most devices are happy with. Is the problem that FLAC falls outside the DLNA spec so you'll have to create a sort of custom DLNA resource type?

Personally, I don't have any FLAC audio collection but since a lot of people have their TV hooked up to the hifi, and since FLAC quality is far better than the MP3 compromise we've all grown used to I think it's quite an important feature to get up and running.

The actual transcode job should be easy, but Serviio doesn't support audio transcoding yet. I'm hoping to add that into the version after 0.5 (probably 0.5.1)
