I love serviio, but since i got the dish hopper the server doesnt work with it. but i see you have directv dvr in the list. I know there are alot of dish network owners that would use the service if you add support for dish network.

Does serviio show the IP address the Hopper is on? If it does show up try the direct TV DVR since it transcodes everything and see if you can play anything on the hopper.
Can you provide the supported formats of the hopper. See signature for link on how to do that.

Well I switched to Plex and now my hopper is seeing my Plex Server and plays all my MKV files just fine.
Serviio worked better on my Blu-ray players but I am happy with using my Hoppers and Joeys to watch everything.

I'd like to cast my vote for support of the Dish Network Hopper/Joey setup. It seems that Dish Network (echostar) has really only added token support for DLNA. I had DLNA working from a Windows XP Pro computer with the builtin UPnP support. However, the inevitable codec/file format issues prevented most content from working. Considering transcoding ALL of my content was a daunting task.
Switched over to Serviio - and so far, I love how it works, indexes, manages, etc. However, the lack of support for Hopper/Joey is a bit disappointing. I have a new Sharp Aquos TV with built-in DLNA support that works with the provided profile - yay! But, I'd love to be able to distribute the home media content to all TVs in the house (everything else is a "dumb tv").

Mike--I have installed PLEX to use with my hopper to play mkv as well. Only issue I have is that I can't see the video picture thumbnails that load on the plex server. Are yours visible? I am on a quest to find a server that shows the thumbnails so the kids can navagate the movies easier

I believe this was provided earlier by mgs24. Here is the results from my "Dish Network Hopper", manufacturer being "EchoStar". The model number listed on the back of the unit is "Hopper 2000".
Output of urn:upnp-org:serviceId:ConnectionManager:1 is:
-   Code:
 http-get:*:video/mp2t:*,http-get:*:video/MP1S:*,http-get:*:video/mpeg2:*,http-get:*:video/mp4:*,http-get:*:video/x-matroska:*,http-get:*:audio/mpeg:*,http-get:*:audio/mpeg3:*,http-get:*:audio/mp3:*,http-get:*:audio/mp4:*,http-get:*:audio/mp4a-latm:*,http-get:*:image/jpeg:*
In addition, the unit general information shows as:
-   Code:
 Device icon      None
Device URN      urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaRenderer:1
Embedded devices   0
Expiration timeout   1800
Friendly name      EchoStar Media Renderer(Office)
Has presentation   False
Manufacturer      Echostar Technologies LLC
Manufacturer URL   http://www.echostar.com
Model description   S238|S238
Model name      XiP813 Hopper
Services              3
Standard type      MediaRenderer
Version         1.0
With "Office" being the device name unique to my personal setup/install.
Thanks!

Just verified, no thumbnails. I am just glad it is working well.

I hate to say this - I really want to use Serviio ... but "Mezzmo" DLNA server has a native profile for Dish Network Hopper/Joey's for transcoding. So far, it's the only one that has correctly provided both thumbnails and meta-data (description) of content remotely on the Hopper/Joey unit.
Yes - it costs $30 - but so far, I'm willing to plop my dough down on it. I've tried several of the popular DLNA media servers, and so far, Mezzmo natively suports the Dish Hopper/Joey.

Nothing is working on the Hopper, you select Serviio on the hopper and it just spins. Never shows files or directory.
Thanks, Mike

I am new to this forum but it doesn't look like anyone ever posted a log for you. I am also somewhat new to Serviio so are you just talking about a debug log? I will definitely get one posted if that is what you mean. Basically it goes into a loop and never shows anything if you use the generic DLNA profile.

				Here is a
debug log of nothing but the startup and the attempted connect from the hopper. You see that it goes into an endless loop.
Thanks, Chris

Serviio is now working on my Hopper (generic profile). Don't know if a Serviio update or a Dish software update fixed things. Haven't played around with it enough yet to comment further.
