Play Media on Android

Hi, I have been using Serviio for ages to play media on my Roku device. Works well enough. Now I'm trying to access my Serviio media on my Android phone. I must be overlooking something basic, because I can't even seem to find any app that I can install to play the media that Serviio serves.

My phone and my Serviio server are on the same network, so I was assuming I could start VLC and it would show Serviio as a media source. That doesn't do it.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Re: Play Media on Android

Yes, VLC will work to access Serviio. Just make sure your phone isn't connected to a "guest" access point on your network, or if there's a security setting on your WiFi that blocks connected devices from seeing other connected devices on your network.

There's also ServiiGo, an app available specifically to access Serviio, although it requires Serviio Pro (the paid version) on your computer. VLC doesn't require that. Other than those two apps, I don't know what else might be in the Google Play store for your phone. I use Kodi on my Android based players, but I don't know if that's available for a phone.
