Currently, I am using XBMC as a comprehensive media center to manage my library, provide a play interface for my TV, and function as a uPnP/DLNA server for other devices. However, XBMC's DLNA server lacks transcoding capabilities, leading to problems with some devices. To address this issue, I am considering using Serviio, which can perform on-the-fly transcoding.
My query is whether there is a recommended approach to integrating XBMC and Serviio so that XBMC can retain its role as an all-in-one media center while Serviio handles the DLNA server, preferably using XBMC's metadata. Alternatively, would it suffice to point Serviio to the same files and let it perform its own scraping? My primary concern is to display TV and movie files from the library rather than from XBMC's streaming plugins or other sources.
If you have experience with a similar setup, I would appreciate any feedback on potential issues or complaints. Alternatively, should I consider alternative options like XBMC+Plex?
