Arranging content by date

Is there a way to arrange content by date?

TV and movies are displayed alphabetically but it would be fantastic if I could arrange them by date. Is that doable?

I presume you mean in folder view because if using one of the metadata view (any non-"Folder" view) then series are presented by episode number (which is effectively by date), and movies can be viewed by release year.
