Work great on my samsung tv but fast forward is grayed out on my LG Tv.. and way to fix this?

I don't know the answer, but fast forwarding is always sketchy for me. I have a Sony Media Player. Sometimes it works, but sometimes I fast forward and it's going along for awhile until it suddenly jumps back to the beginning, then randomly jumps around. Not very useful. If I stop watching a movie in the middle and try to come back to it the next evening, I sometimes just give up and watch it directly on my computer screen.

Transcoded files generally can't be FF or rewound. I can't explain the reason (as I don't know it ) but it just seems to work that way.
