The aim is to provide an overview of the capabilities of UPnP AV devices. (Similar to the INTEL tool + a database)
This data is collected from you and every other user interested in contributing.
You can then submit this data to our server which makes the collected information available here.
The collected data should help developers, customers and everybody else who's interested finding out about the capabilities of different devices
Just take a look at the database and if you have access to any UPnP/AV devices, grab our tool and contribute to the project.

It's an independent project and might not be that often updated. Still it's a good resource as it gives details about servers and devices and it's good for everybody.

Maybe we should do our own version related to serviio with all the profiles and bits in it? dont want to step on anyones toe but out of date or incorrect information is worse than no information at all in the Google age.

Good to hear, if you get time, come on.

Out of date ?... the latest device added 20/04/2011: http://www.upnp-database.info/device.jsp?deviceId=260
Incorrect information? ... I used it for Sony device comparison (you will find my device http://www.upnp-database.info/device.jsp?deviceId=157)
Everyone is free to contribute or not...

Someone give me somewere to host it and i will, same with a wiki for serviio project :)

Dont take me out of contexted my friend :) that was in relation to zips comment " It's an independent project and might not be that often updated. " so that why i questioned if it would not be better for us to do our OWN version, so that we can keep it relevent even if that project dies in future. :)
