The iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) runs very slow recently after upgrading to macOS High Serria. I did clean up the trash and unused app but there is no dramatical improvement for performance. what should I do?

I think you'd find much better support on a Mac support forum. There aren't that many Mac users here, compared to other OSs.

maybe the new os is too much for it?

Are you within the recommended system requirements?

I have never owned a mac so just guessing.

1: It could be something wrong with your Mac ,
2: The trash and unused app have not been cleaned up Mac
PS: Some apps are hard to clean completely on Mac,even if they are removed from the desktop, they still take up memory on the Mac,to permanently clean it please take a look at it: https://www.tunesbro.com/delete-unwante ... n-mac.html
