Audio m3u path or other issue?

I’m running Serviio on a Raspberry Pi and the library folder is on an external SSD. I can access easily from my Mac using VLC and I can create playlists within VLC. When I export the playlist file to the exact folder where my audio is stored, the playlist does not appear through Serviio (Audio…Playlists directory will show as empty).

Here is an example of the m3u that VLC exports. Do I need to remove “http://… “ and replace with something else?

Yeah, I do believe it's your location format. Serviio is not looking for the media at the IP address, it's simply looking within it's library structure. Here's an example of a M3U playlist that works for me. I won't include the entire list, just a few of the entries.

My playlists were created using Playlist Creator 3.6.2, which I believe is a Windows only product. Since your system isn't based on Windows, the paths would look different than mine. On mine, the paths that begin with .. the media files are located on the same hard drive as the playlist files. The full path names are on different hard drives.

Thanks. Each iPad app I have tried will of course make playlists, but I would prefer to have playlists housed on my Raspberry Pi with Serviio, that way they are app-agnostic. I'll keep trying.

I just did a search for Linux apps that can create a playlist, and VLC came up. I've never tried using that before for that purpose, so no idea how easy/hard it might be to use. And that's of course assuming you have a GUI interface on your Pi box.

I thought more about your playlist format, and it occurred to me that by using an HTTP file location Serviio would think that it's a streaming site and not something local. That would need to be entered into your Library as an Online source, but the M3U file would need to be located at that URL as well. I've heard people could enter playlists in that manner but I've never attempted that.

I do think your best plan is to edit the M3U file with the local file path that matches the file path that you have created in your Shared Folders under Library. I did find one other recommended Linux program that can create playlist files, Clementine.

First of all, thank you, I have found success.

I downloaded Clementine, made/saved a playlist and placed in in the shared folder that Serviio uses for my audio library. The playlist then appeared using one of my iPad apps and worked as expected.

The interesting thing is the path. Even though I am using an external SSD, the full path is not needed. Indeed you can go directly to the folder that houses the track:
