blu-ray player with DLNA that lets you choose soundtrack...

Hi,

Hoping for some advice.

My samsung TV ( UN55d6050 ) lets me choose from available soundtracks when playing media from serviio via DLNA. I bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player ( bd-d5300) and it chooses the first available soundtrack form DLNA based content, with no option to choose other available soundtrack. ( the bd-5300 also will not play numerous files that the TV does play).

Can anyone recommend a blu ray player ( not necessarily Samsung) that will offer soundtrack choice like the TV does?

As an aside, I would just use the TV, but its optical digital out does not pass through HD audio, and it defaults to downsampled stereo PCM, meaning I have to take an extra step of going into the TV's preferences, and setting the audio out to DTS or Dolby by hand for each media file I play.

Thanks for any input you might offer!

As I said, it does not have to be Samsung. I'm hoping someone will steer me towards a Blu-Ray player that has support for selecting form available soundtracks via DLNA.

Sony BD players only allow audio track selection from MKV (Europe and Canada regions only), but their MKV playback has other issues so I wouldn't recommend it as a solution (see the sticky in the Sony subforum). The Serviio profile remuxes to M2TS to get around those issues.

I think audio track selection preference at the server end is a pretty big feature that Serviio still lacks (after that there won't be much left to improve!). I recently made a profile to transcode all audio to AC3 so I could use my surround processing gaming headphones but I soon discovered that many of my movies have a 2 channel audio track in addition to the 5.1 channel - and Serviio kept choosing the 2 channel one.

It's already logged as a request in the issue tracker:
