it does cache them already, but still the first browse would be slow. Anyway, it's how it is, I don't see any change being done to thumbnails in the future unless really necessary

I understand but lets say i have a feed with 1000 thumbnails at 20 kb each, thats about 20mb to download directly when i somebody maybe only wants to look at the first 10 images.

If they always look at the first 20, then they can change the number of feed items to retrieve to 20 in the console.

Does serviio store the thumbnails on the harddrive or does it have to cache it again on a reboot?

cache on reboot, all in memory
