Serviio patch for Turnkey linux appliance.

I hope I have not broken any rules , but I have recently made a serviio patch to install serviio to a turnkey linux appliance .
This patch can then create a full linux iso ready for installation on a bare metal server or a VM .
The patch is available at http://www.turnkeylinux.org/

Much appreciation for all your hard work .
Alex

Turnkey file server and torrent server are using Base distribution: Ubuntu 10.04.1 with Long Term Support until April 2015.

If wanted I will try to upload somewhere completed iso's or the patch can be downloaded from the Turnkey site

looks great not sure about the torrent server ( they dont support the use of illegal file sharing here ) but coupling this with the fileserver looks very promising to me, can you provide an ISO with serviio 0.6 and your turnkey server so it can simply be installed and run out of the box ( webui too would be perfect ), so it can be tested by the team here would be great start i guess.

Here is a link to download the file server version.
link removed by Bertbass , will be re upped with licence and webui included

The file server version has webmin built in , just needs updating to the latest version.
It also has a Web based file manager .
adding a serviio webui will be the next part the puzzle that needs working on , allthough somebody on this forum has been looking at a java webui which may work well.

The patch is ok, but keep in mind Serviio has a particular licence which you should probably link to in your readme or the website.

If needed i will remove the link for now , as I am patching the iso with the java webui at the moment and i will re-upload a finished iso with the licence in the readme.

I installed this distro on a virtual machine.I can access Webmin and others, but I do not know how to access Serviio via a URL. What URL should I enter?

try http://xxx.xxx.x.x:8123/serviio/console

enter the ip address given to the iso when first set up , usually on the configuration console at start up eg if webmin is http://192.168.1.1:12321 serviio console will be http://192.168.1.1:8123/serviio/console

Working but not all. I installed to USB, mounted NTFS partition. AVI files play just fine but does not play MKV files. TV show dialog "Pleas wite..." and then "Cannot read file". And so with all the MKV files. Through the web serviio console I selected Panasonic Viera profile. In the future I want to build a home media server, so I would like to solve all the problems now. Maybe there are some ideas on how to solve this problem?

This is a linux iso and really needs installing either in a virtual machine eg:virtualbox or a bare metal install on an old computer .
I have it working on both and have no problem playing ,mkv ,avi , mp4 , ts ,mp3 music .
Just make sure you have enough memory , minimum 512mb recommended 2gb
I have found using a static ip address for the serviio server in your router does help with the webui.
It also takes a little time for all files to be recognised on first loading , while the database is updated.

My PC spec.: AMD Athlon X2 3 GHz, 2 GB RAM , Turnkey installed for testing in to 8 GB USB as second OS. From another computer through a Web interface I log into Webmin and then mount the NTFS file system. In Serviio console I made all the necessary settings. After all, and as I mentioned AVI files play fine, but not MKV. My movie collection is not large. Where could be my mistake?

what are you trying to play the mkv on? you might need to customize the profile for the render. Can you post your serviio.log file.

I am using the Panasonic Viera profile. For example, in Windows 7 with the same profile work ok. My TV is Panasonic TX-P42G20E. TV show dialog "Pleas wite..." and then "Cannot read file". Now I can not give the serviio.log file.

Ok. I re-installed Turnkey, mounted NTSF system and tell Serviio stream only 4 diferent files (.m2ts, .mkv, .avi, .mp4). All of these files is working perfectly in Win7 system.
Results:
.m2ts - Play OK
.avi - Play OK
.mp4 - not play
.mkv - not play
.mp4 - not play

I attaching Serviio Log.
