new wireless standard
Now this is what we need to stream serviio across.

We’re guessing you’ve probably heard of the new 802.11ac specification by now, but if by some chance you haven’t; expect to be inundated by new products featuring the technology over the coming year. As the successor to 802.11N, the ac spec isn’t just a tiny bit faster; it is, in theory, almost as effective as running CAT5E cables. Theoretical speeds are as high as 6.8 Gbps: however the first wave of products will be rated between 866 Mbps and 1.3 Gbps. Wireless ac routers haven’t hit the consumer space en-mass just yet, but of course with CES just around the corner TRENDnet wanted to get out ahead of the pack and is releasing a few details on its new TEW-800MB and TEW-811DR.
Starting out on the high end, TRENDnet’s TEW-800MB and TEW-811DR will be rated for 1.3 Gbps wireless speeds if you have matching hardware on the receiving end, along with four Gigabit wired ports on the back for nearby devices. The TEW-811DR’s one distinguishing feature seems to be dual band support, which is extremely handy if you have lots of older wireless traffic in your area.
"New 802.11ac represents a huge jump in wireless performance," stated Zak Wood, director of global marketing for TRENDnet. "It will be able to easily handle a large number of wireless connections simultaneously. It will also be able to support extremely high wireless throughput at great distances from the router."
