e3000 with connected usb drive

i have an e3000 router with a local usb drive. using \\192.168.1.1\movies for the path. have the same logon username and password for windows xp and the e3000 under storage>administration. Both of these users have admin privileges. I verified the service was running.

A local drive reads in the files fine (I can see the green dot). The network drive never goes green. What else should i check? Would logging help and how is that enabled?

thanks for any ideas.

Re: e3000 with connected usb drive

What did you type into the serviio console?

Are you using Local or path?

Can you take a screenshot of your serviio console on the library tab and post it here?

Re: e3000 with connected usb drive

All,

do you have an e3000 with a usb HD connected that is working with serviio connected to a winxp running the service?
could you share some of the settings for your e3000?
I have also tried disabling antivirus firewall etc without luck.
I do have my computers and the e3000 in the same workgroup.

Re: e3000 with connected usb drive

try typing in the UNC path in windows explorer and see if the usb drive comes up.

\\192.168.1.1\public

also try

//192.168.1.1/public

Re: e3000 with connected usb drive

\\192.168.1.1\public works in my browser and is mapped to a network drive in windows explorer which also shows the files

In your first quote you used "\\192.168.1.1\movies " In the Screenshot you used "\\192.168.1.1\public"

Re: e3000 with connected usb drive

the way the e3000 creates the mapping, the root directory has to be named. public is the correct name and then I actually have a movies directory underneath. I have been trying lots of different ways. \\192.168.1.1\public\movies is where the movies reside. I verified this works in both browser and explorer. I have tried serviio with and w/o the "movies" portion.

i did review those posts earlier...I noticed they said that their userid and password were different between windows 7 and the storage. I believe they need to be the same, correct?
I also have a Windows 7 machine which is having an identical problem to my WinXP machine.
Are there other services I need to check?
Is the serviio service running under local system correct?
