Serviio 1.0 - Questions and my comments

Serviio 1.0 got some upgrades... MediaBrowser, API access and shared file restrictions. Free vs Pro:

Here are some comments about 1.0, from me:
First of all, the MediaBrowser is awesome. Simple, fast and nicely designed. But, why flowplayer? I'd rather use DivX than flowplayer (maybe that's just me. But I want to be able to fastforward without +20% buff).

Shared file/dir restrictions - Well, kind of useful. Except that I have to do this manually on every single host that connects to my network....... Otherwise, it's OK.

Now, remember that this is only me whining about the non-beta release. I love Serviio as it is, the 0.6.2 is great (the best). But I expected more from 1.0, am I alone on this? And ofc, I will buy 1.0. Supporting Serviio with a bit of cash is the best way to say; Thanks. :) But I would love if I could change some configurations in the DNLA profile t.ex, for a more awesome view from the TV. I've created my own little plugin that changes the name, logo and everything else in the profile. But it would be nice to have it there in the beginning.

Thanks,
F

Thanks. You cannot transcode to divx, so it has to be FLV. If you now any mpeg2ts player for the browser, let me know. Also Flowplayer supports subtitles which is pretty neat.

Yes, hopefully with more feedback it can be extended.

A lot of work went into 1.0 and most is probably not very visible. The MediaBrowser API will hopefully enable app devs to build some cool Serviio mobile applications. A lot of additions went to the transcoding engine as well.

Not sure what you mean, can you elaborate?

Thanks for the feedback.

The profile.xml file. You got the DLNA profile there.

<FriendlyName>Serviio ({computerName})</FriendlyName> <-- Is the default name on the DLNA profile. Change it to: <FriendlyName>Media Server</FriendlyName> it makes looks better on the TV (like on samsung, allshare will set the server name to: Media Server).

Isn't this possible to add in v1.0?

I don't think there will be an editor for profiles.xml, at least not any time soon - that would only slow development down and I want to hide all his complexity from normal users. Renaming the server - that might come, will see.

Okej, now I know. Thanks!
