Hi
is there a problem streaming wmv videos from serviio to xbmc for pc? (xbmc.org)
I find if I copy the same files to my d-link running miniDLNA it plays fine
and sony bravia 2012 wont even play them on 2010 profile unless I rename
them to .avi or .mpg on end
but atleast they work fine that way just xbmc spits the dummy says
see log for more info..
now I thought it was a bug in xbmc but it plays fine from other media servers
Ive tried varies profiles.. and ive noticed ffmpeg transcodes with blank video
and only sound
very annoying

are you using the Generic profile? It won't transcode them. If it won't play it might be the mime-type.

i tried a few profiles... (i said above already) I mean various not varies there though

)
tried xbox ps3 sony and panasonic
now im wondering if it uses the wrong ip.. like the wireless over the lan ip
wirelesss is random though..
i will hard code the wireless ip and retest
but if xbmc is running on the same machine perhaps its using localhost even?

the strange thing nothing is green next to both ips when im playing a working video
in serviio but the devicea like tvs that are on are green.
anyhow I tried setting panasonic veria 2010 profile on both lan and wireless ipos
it transcoded the mwv created by my friend in movie maker live for win7 64
and it just played the audio. ANY IDEAS? I tried a ffmpeg on the file got this
you think it could transcode movie maker files ok? since no drm BS

also checked the ts file in cache and it was a big file and in VLC 2.06 blank screen also and just audio track
is it a limitation of how ffmpeg works on certain mwv's .. but you think movie maker live ones would
work

the first video track is mjpeg, not wmv. You will have to remux it (remove the mjpeg track)

its my friends . he converted a gopro video well edited it in movie maker live
I dont think it has 2 video tracks.. why does my d-link media server play it to tv without
any transcodes.. its very odd some media servers work and others dont
surely theres a way to tell ffmpeg in serviio to ignore first track if its a thumb
must be way the movie maker builds the container
UPDATE,...
having manually looked at it.. it looks like its just an embedded JPRG screen thumb of the
first frame ??
when i do manually ffmpeg on the video it produces one frame but plays the audio
I guess its possible to use avimux gui to maybe remove it from his videos manually
and rebuild header without re-encoding

The THING too
is xbmc will play the file directly as it stands from LOCAL DRIVE
so that says its a Serviio issue maybe ffmpeg issue of sending the file?
I will try next making a new container for it using GDSmux from Haali splitter package and
see if they rids the extra bits. so far the file is 3K smaller so looks like it might of dropped the
embedded frame dfor thumbnail
I let you know as soon as serviio rescans and adds it.. Shame theres no right click to just
add that folder changes.. update/rescan always go to the start and start scanning all
the UNCs to nas boxes so it take ages to scan the path I want first

finally scanned and checked it stream from serviio now its in a mkv container and worked brillantly
so the haali tool fixed it without transcoding it
