Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

I have a list of streaming audio URL provided on the Absolute Radio listen page.
https://absoluteradio.co.uk/listen/links/
But none of them work.
Some links appear to correspond with the supported types.
Supported types - aCodecs: aac, ac3, mp3, mp2, lpcm, wmav2, wmapro, dca (DTS), flac, vorbis, truehd, amrnb.

Any ideas why they all fail the Serviio check?

Also Is aacPLUS supported now as this seems popular for the future.

Re: Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

Those links are all in playlist format (.PLS), not a live stream URL. I tried creating a playlist file with one, but it didn't work. I might not know the proper way to format an online playlist file.

When I tried using the link in a browser, it simply downloaded the playlist file. here's the contents:

  Code:
[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
File1=http://mp3-ac-128.timlradio.co.uk/
Title1=Absolute Classic Rock - Home of the Great British Guarantee (High Quality)
Length1=-1
Version=2

I tried the URL it contains, and it resolved to http://icecast.timlradio.co.uk/nonuk.mp3. I couldn't get a stream from it, either. Might be an issue on their end.

Re: Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

Well done Dan - you have cracked it.
Well for me at least - as you are not in UK you are getting "nonuk".

I put in the link "http://mp3-ac-128.timlradio.co.uk/" you got in the expanded playlist and it passed the verification and is working fine.
Now I know how to deal with the .pls links.

Which stream option (of the many) on the Absolute page did you use to download the playlist (presumably the MP3 128k one).

I now have all seven Absolute Radio channels running in aacPlus128 and one in mp3-128.
I cannot see any difference between the aacPlus128 and mp3-128 channels playing on my hi-fi.
I expected the aacPlus128 might be better based upon comments.
Both are excellent quality although I am used to flac as my library (local and Qobuz) is flac-based.

Re: Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

I tried both of the MP3 links. In Google Chrome they loaded but wouldn't play. In Microsoft Edge I received an unsupported codec message. Which is weird as I'm sure that browser supports MP3 playback. I didn't bother with any of the others.

Yeah, not being in the UK might have been an issue for my playback. But at least we have you sorted out! :D

Re: Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

I am playing them from Serviio using BubbleUPnP to my Denon renderer.
Both the mp3-128 and aacPlus128 streams also play through Serviio MediaBrowser as well.
I am sure these Absolute Radio stream are UK restricted.

SOLVED.

Re: Online Sources - Audio - Absolute Radio streams

Many of the Absolute radio stations are included in my file of 104 plus working Internet Radio stations (but may only work in UK).
Some streams however no longer work or have been abandoned.
