Want to make your radio stations start immediately. There is a current problem with Serviio transcoding.

Remove or disable the transcoding lines below from the generic profile - and bingo - radio stations play instantly like on other apps.

Solution 1: Disabling all the transcoding lines by adding <!-- and -->
<OnlineTranscoding>
<!--
<Audio targetContainer="mp3" aBitrate="320" forceInheritance="true">
<Matches container="flv"/>
<Matches container="asf"/>
<Matches container="rtp"/>
<Matches container="rtsp"/>
<Matches container="mp3"/>
<Matches container="mp4"/>
<Matches container="mpegts"/>
</Audio>
-->
</OnlineTranscoding>

Solution 2: Disabling only the mp3 transcoding line by adding <!-- and -->
<OnlineTranscoding>
<Audio targetContainer="mp3" aBitrate="320" forceInheritance="true">
<Matches container="flv"/>
<Matches container="asf"/>
<Matches container="rtp"/>
<Matches container="rtsp"/>
<!--
<Matches container="mp3"/>
-->
<Matches container="mp4"/>
<Matches container="mpegts"/>
</Audio>
</OnlineTranscoding>

This option allows playing AAC and other file types if not supported natively.
Need to stop/restart Serviio after these changes.
Note The flac radio stations play OK as they are not part of the transcoding.

Just remember that every Serviio update will replace the profiles.xml file, so your changes will be gone. It's not recommended to alter the generic profile, as that impacts virtually every other profile, but instead one should create a user profiles XML file and create a special profile for your device. I can't say 100% that it would remove the sections you've commented out from applying. Just something to remember.

Dan is absolutely right about the generic profile and I have mine in a user profile which is selected on the status page of Serviio.
However if components do not have a fixed IP these user profiles often get lost by DHCP resetting which happen more often than Serviio updates.

To clarify the commented out sections ARE deactivated.
You will need to restart Serviio to use the changed profile.
Other inherited profiles may also benefit esp. by avoiding transcoding from mp3 to mp3 !

Radio stations regularly change - new ones emerge, others cease broadcasting and many streaming URL's change.
I have re-validated the stations to check they are currently working.
There are 244 stations in the current file.
