OK sorry for the long post but a little background on my setup and my experiences so far. Followed by two questions/support issues Im having during setup.

Im a comp science grad and work as an electronics tech but noob to DLNA and setting up server. End of the day, Im looking to use a central server (old AMD quad core PC running XP) to other devices in house (several Iphones, Droid phones and tablets, 3 home computers running win 7 and Router is Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight (love how it looks and the name : )).
Im not stuck on VLC as client side interface (from PCs to the XP machine running serviio server). But I want to easily navigate and play my media especially via PC clients.

So installed the Serviio server on XP machine. Scanned my movies and music. I can access via other comps in my local network via serviio/ web browser.

Some Questions/Problems:
First and Minor:
I need to do more testing on this but the Web Interface/movie player doesnt seem to show my videos at as high a quality as other media players (even when I select highest quality). Also it doesnt play ISOs? VLC does : ). Will serviio index ISO?

Second and more important:
When I go to VLC/View/Playlist/local network/Universal PnP/Serviio..... It just hangs. Gives me options sometimes to choose Audio/Video. Now its actually no longer showing. Im sure some combination of reboots might get it back in the UPnP list.

Thanks all for the Help.

Are you running the latest version of VLC?

I have a couple of serviio instances on my network and one thing I have noticed is that when you select that upnp section in vlc.. sometimes it can take a few minutes for all my servers to show in the list and allow me to expand into the folders.. most of the time it just shows the name of one server and others it will show them all. it seems to work on some kind of refresh mechanism, but i can't figure out how to force vlc to scan.. I just have to wait for it to do it's thing
