Hi,

I know this has been discussed on the forum already around the inability of the XBOX360 to play 6 channel audio, but i have been experimenting with other DLNA servers and have that 'Playback' (when using movies converted to m4v, H.264 & AC3) will allow the XBOX360 to output 6 channels of audio using FFMpeg conversion i think. My issue with this server is that it keeps crashing the video every 20 mins whilst streaming or so, and i haven't resolved it. Hence i stumbled onto Serviio, and it is a way better all round package! If some how we could get it to output 6 channels like Playback can it would be totally Awesome! Keen to work with someone to figure out how.....

Mark.

How does it work? Converting 6 channels to stereo? Or actually playing 6 channels via the XBox?

Oddly enough i now also have 6 channels working through Serviio.....it always was. (helps to turn on surround speakers eh!). Anyway, good news for you guys though.

Happy to post logs e.t.c to show where/how it is working, just let me know where they are.

And it appears to be proper 6 channel surround as far as i can tell to. It took me a bit of fiddling re-coding the MKV's with handbrake, but it seems to have done the trick.

The audio codec i an using is AC3 (ffmpeg) as 6 channel discrete.

I'm no expert around this stuff, so i could just be fudging it of course (i did have my surround speakers off after all!)
