Previously Working Files no Longer working in 1.2.1

Hi Guys,

I opted to upgrade to 1.2.1 a few weeks ago and I saw that some of my HD videos are no longer working. They were previously working in the older version (the main reason I switched to serviio) but now it no longer works. I am using a samsung series 5 TV connected via the ethernet. I checked the profile and it was still set to Samsung CDE TV series. I read around the forums and tried changing it to Direct TV, it worked but it now transcodes every video that I play with the TV. I haven't switched back to the older version because i love the update in which it can now play embedded subtitles in mkv/mp4 files which saves me a lot of time in ripping subs. One thing I have noticed that has changed is that in the device name it no longer detects it as a samsung tv(LAC3something) it now says unrecognized device in the ip address of the TV. Hope to get your inputs on how to resolve this issue. thanks!

Hi Zip,

Thanks for the reply.

I have attached the detailed log of the the file playing while on the Direct TV HDTV profile (works properly) and on the Samsung CDE Series TV (Gives Error of "Video Codec Not Supported")

I'm not sure if this is useful but I used mediaInfo to check the video type. Below is the result:

Hi Zip,

Don't know what happened there but attached is the correct file.

OK, there should be some more above in the log. Basically, you probably have Burning subtitles in turned on (which you don't need for Samsung TVs). Then FFmpeg is failing to burn the subtitles in, but the error is further up in the log.

After my experience of 1.2.1 not doing stuff that 1.2 would do, perhaps upgrading your ffmpeg would fix this.

I'm new(ish) to all this, but it's just a thought and sorry if it's complete rubbish.

Hi Zip,

It totally worked! I just unchecked "Enable Burned-in Subtitles" and it played beautifully but upon checking another file is not working. I have attached the log, the ffmpeg -i and the result from media info.

Hi Andyme,

I was about to do that but upon checking the serviio logs it actually tries to check and update the ffmpeg file. BTW im using Windows 7 64-bit.

take a look at this guide

http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=win_ffmpeg

ffmpeg doesn't update through serviio, it only uses the copy that is included.
