Has Seviio gone off the boil?

For years Serviio has been my media server of choice, the bastion of media servers / streamers with only the Rasberry pi /xbmc comming close to handling any file thrown at it...

But latley Serviio seems to be way off the mark...
Since the last update, i seem to be having more and more issues.

I run a diverse set up. with serviio at the hub so to speak
Serviio is on my main pc, with a disknology NAS storing all my media,
everything is streamed wirelessly via my netgear D6300 router...

DVD players are Samsung & LG (smarthub units)
TV is LG Smarthub

The samsug DVD used to be the Serviio equivilant, taking any stream fed from serviio and playing faultlessly....putting my xbox to shame lol

Now it fails to handle HD (720p) media. with a certian film playing for about 1 minutes 36 seconds, then buffering constantly and becomming choppy to the point of dropping the connection. (almost as if its filling a small buffer and streaming from that) - say 10 seconds at a time

The LG DVD is worse, it wont even play the film back, its that bad.

Media streaming music, it loses connection with the NAS, then serviio wont even show up in the list of available servers, despite it showing its status as running and available when checking

The NAS is fine, being accessable from the network via a wireless pc in the same room!

ANy ideas?

regarding choppiness, make sure you don't have burned-in subtitles on.

Not had any problems with it. Running the first Core2Duo on a Win7x64 box with 4GB RAM it has no issues what-so-ever with rips I've done of 1080p Blu-Rays.

Are you transcoding or just natively streaming files?

You say it's streaming wirelessly so I'd make sure that isn't being flakey. Wireless in general has never been up to par for me so my connection is wired or HomePlugs.

Sounds like WiFi issues really, buy some home plug 200 Mbps or faster and problem solved!

Nope not wifi ---

uninstalled serviio completly, and found the nas using its built in server (synology) found the film, and it stremaed flawlessly, no stuttering or drop outs.

I then tried to install serviio to my nas directly, but it wont play ball, and i couldnt get the non console version to run on the PC

but it only works for films, music & pics dont work taken directly from the NAS

So if i try to use serviio , it wont play but is ok if i dont ...

did a wifi data scan 300 - 1000 mbs using wifi

are you getting this with all the files? Can you post detailed log of playing a file that stutters?

Hi Zip,

i'll post a log as soon as i can get back on the tv;)

just aquick update onto what ive tried...

complete uninstall and reinstall of serviio & a library rebuild ....

LG DVD ( bedroom) streamed FOD HD (field of dreams) perfectly over wireless

Samsung DVD downstairs, stuttered after 1.36 mins

Purchased & installed 2x homeplugs and tried again

LG TV (downstairs) streamed FOD HD perfectly no stutter at all

Samsung DVD (Downstairs) played until about 3 mins then started to stutter

Turning off the DVD and back on shows that Serviio os no longer seen as an available server so cannot stream any more Using serviio

Tried again upstairs wireless .... it now stutters using serviio, but plays flawlwssly streaming direct from the NAS
