.srt subtitle files not playing through Serviio 1.2.1

This may have been addressed elsewhere, but here goes:
My WD TV Live box plays movies with .srt subtitles through a flash drive without any problems, but not when the same movie file/folder is streamed through Serviio from my laptop. Subtitles are enabled in Serviio and the movie plays fine otherwise. One additional point: The WD TV Live remote has a subtitle button that toggles the text on or off when the movie plays from the flash drive, but that control is unresponsive when Serviio is streaming the movie.
Any though on how to get the subtitles to appear on the streamed version?
