I have been having issues with Serviio identifying nearly all of me media metadata. Below are some log examples showing the formatting should be correct but no data is being returned.
Have tried a mapped drive that one doesn't even recognize the path. Here is that error
2013-06-17 20:14:36,321 WARN [LibraryAdditionsCheckerThread] Folder 'M:\TV' is either not an existing directory or cannot be read due to access rights

2013-06-16 01:34:34,590 WARN [OnlineVideoSourcesMetadataExtractor] Online metadata search returned no results for file South.Park.S04.E12...Trapper.Keeper.avi [VideoDescription [type=EPISODE, names=[south park, south park], year=1997, season=4, episode=12]]

2013-06-16 01:27:05,536 WARN [OnlineVideoSourcesMetadataExtractor] Online metadata search returned no results for file Stargate.Atlantis.S04.E04...Doppelganger.avi [VideoDescription [type=EPISODE, names=[stargate atlantis, stargate atlantis], year=2004, season=4, episode=4]]
2013-06-16 01:27:05,587 INFO [LibraryAdditionsCheckerThread] Added file 'Stargate.Atlantis.S04.E04...Doppelganger.avi' (title: Stargate.Atlantis.S04.E04...Doppelganger) to Library

All files are in the folders section. Just not appearing in Series, therefore no metadata.
Titles should be read by TVDB based on this. What am I missing ?

Using Serviio on Windows with a PRO licence version 1.2.1
And the account running the service has access to the share

I would suggest removing the period in the series file name, i.e. "south park" instead of "south.park". I highly recommend Filebot http://www.filebot.net/ for naming your files. Since it goes to the online database to confirm proper naming convention, it has eliminated many naming issues I had.

The only exception is a series name with a hyphen (Adam-12). FileBot names it correctly, but Serviio has issues with the hyphen.

It might be due to the year. Serviio will use the year in the search query, so either fix it in your file path, or remove altogether

Mmm. Unfortunately thats how I like them named and as such my entire library is in this format
Has picked up some series in the search, including ones with periods, ill do some tests without the year I the title but it does look like even with the period it is picking up names correctly

The thing is you have to get the year right (ie the same as is in thetvdb.com)

dates are definitely correct as they are named based on thetvdb.com info
after removing dates they seem to be working ?

any ideas why dates are stopping some ?
