Sharp TV

Hello all... Long time reader, first time poster (ha!).

Anyhow, I have a Sharp Aquos TV in my living room and am using a wireless bridge to connect it to the network here in the back of the house. I can get to the internet without an issue and can even stream movies from this computer to the TV using the DLNA built into Windows Media Player to the TV; the TV sees that DNLA server.

However, Serviio doesn't see the TV. This might be a router issue. Though the bridge is set up properly, and the TV is assigned an appropriate IP address which is a member of the correct subnet, the router that assigns IPs doesn't see the "device". It sees all the rest. I will not ask for troubleshooting on this issue. I will go elsewhere for that. I am attempting to cross this being a Serviio issue in my troubleshooting steps. I CAN ping the TV from the computer I want to server movies from.

When I ask Serviio to scan for devices, it doesn't see the TV. When I ask the TV to scan for servers, it doesn't see Serviio. I believe that Serviio is the solution I need because it can transcode on the fly allowing us to watch MKV files on the TV. Let me know if it cannot do this now so I don't have to dig myself into a pointless hole.

Anyhow, I hope this is a good enough of a description to get some help for troubleshooting here.

Nevermind on the TV and Serviio seeing each other. That was resolved (updating my main router's firmware, btw)... My issue is transcoding...

What I really want is to see MKV files. Some work and some do not. AFAIK all my .avi files work. It seems to be a container issue w/the MKV files. When I attempt to get them to transcode I get one of three outcomes:

1) it works fine and we get a great movie night
2) it appears to work but it is very herky-jerky as though my computer is bogged down transcoding the file
3) it doesn't work at all and the TV basically crashes. I have to manually restart the Serviio server and power the TV off and on and I can then see some other movie.

Has anyone else had these issues? Besides reformatting all my movies (no thanks) is there anything else I can do so we can watch these movies?
