Buffalo NAS / Sony Bluray setup problem

Hi

I have installed Serviio on my PC as my router does not support DNLA , so I cannot use the media server inbuilt in my Buffalo linksys quad NAS to serve from, be it Twonky, Serviio or any other.
I installed Serviio on my PC and linked to my Blueray BDp-SX70 and set up libraries. Perfect so far, it can see and play any folders i set on my PC with no problems . I cannot, however, see any files on my NAS. I have set up as per the FAQ, username of my laptop login is the same as my NAS account with full share rights, and set the route to several things to try e.g.\\192.168.0.2\share2\movies or else \\LS-QV243\share2\movies as requested but nothing comes up

So where can i go from here, will my router lack of DNLA support prevent the flow through from the NAS? I know i could copy to my PC and play from there, but would prefer to not have to.

Serviio service runs under a different account than your PC login, so you have to give access to that account (or run the service under your user). As FAQ says.

Hi again
Thanks for the reply, still a litle lost, checked the faq where it says
To access a NAS device the exact same set of credentials must be created on the NAS device. The Windows credentials must be a local user and not a domain user. The user must have "Run As Service" rights. The remote path must be entered as a UNC path in the Serviio Console (e.g. \\server\folder)), mapped drive letters will not work since the user running the Serviio service is not aware of your mapped drives

Ok so if i have my pc account for user 'joe' and i have a identical account 'joe' on my nas, what else do i need to create?. Your answer suggests i need a seperate serviio account but the faq seems to suggest if the accounts is identical and it has run as service permission then thats ok? I checked services and my account is running ok for serviio as a local user logon, so dont see this being the problem.

As far as i can tell all this is active and set up ok. If serviio needs its account on the NAS how do i then specify this in my windows settings if i am logged on using my 'joe' account.

Check Services. The check what user is Serviio service run under. This user (probably something like Local Service Account) needs to have access. Or change the service's user to be 'joe'

Thanks.

i have checked that under 'services' and then 'serviio', then the logon tab, the user is set as "local system account'. Wont let me choose a specific account as i only have one set up on my laptop so far. In fat i created specific logon my NAS called serviio with access rights to see if this helps

I have my NAS set to this as identical username logon (and i know this works as I can access my NAS via remote web login with those credentials). So I need to know how do i find what account serviio is running if this information is elsewhere, and what else i can do from here if anything?

I also notice that in item http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6286&p=45955&hilit=buffalo#p45955 the user said
I use a network HDD (buffalo), and I use UNC path like \\192.168.1.10\Share\video and I need to change serviio service permission to allow the scan of this folder path.
, where do i change the serviio service permission to scan this folder, as i dont see folder options in services if this may help.

PS if i set the path to \\NAS\disk1\movies for example the 'status' lights in serviio are green for perhaps 5 to 10 seconds on both searching for new files and checking for updates, but then go red and my bluray still cant see the files, does this help at all?

Coming back to my original point, if my router doesnt have DNLA support is this likely to be the root cause and no matter what i do will it still block the files even when serviio is running on my laptop
cheers

You have to change the user of the service, either to the laptop user you use, or create a new Serviio user on your laptop that matches the one on the NAS.

No, it will work.

Well got it working setting up a serviio account, local laptop login would not work - then after perhaps 5 minutes all the files on the NAS disappeared from my blue ray view, leaving only the local laptop files. Any reason this would happen?

Is the NAS available all the time? Or does it go to sleep or disconnect? With the automatic checks, once the NAS is not available, Serviio will assume the files have been removed and will remove them from the library.

If that is the case, you can uncheck the orange box from this image for your NAS folders: http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=ser ... _explained

Then if you add some new files to share there, check it, force refresh and uncheck when it's done.
