ubuntu , serviio1.3 library not adding

hi
ive used serviio for several years on windows without issue, ive just installed ubuntu in its place and am now installing serviio.(version 1.3)

all installs fine, however when i try to add a folder , and whilst it adds ok, the folder files are never added, and the "force refrsh" button is greyed out - it is not greyed out until i try and add a folder.

things i have tried

add a single media file to /tmp and add /tmp as a folder - same error
recompile ffmpeg with the latest source - same issue
reinstall to no effect
start/restart
clear the "db" directory

i get no errors in the logs (except two errrors from ffmpeg as per the log extract below) which i dont believe are an issue for this particular problem

>>>>>>>>FFMPEGWrapper] Found FFmpeg: ffmpeg version 1.1.g
it Copyright (c) 2000-2013 the FFmpeg developers
2013-08-16 17:50:27,835 WARN [FFMPEGWrapper] FFmpeg is not compiled with librtm

2013-08-16 17:50:27,835 WARN [FFMPEGWrapper] FFmpeg is not compiled with libass
support, rendering subtitles (hardsubs) will not work.
<<<<<<<<<<<<

can someone please point me as to what i can try next to get this working?

thank you

you can add ffmpeg.location property to point to the newly compiled ffmpeg binary (search the forum on how to do it).

Otherwise it also might be access rights (check Serviio process user has read access to the folders/files you share)

thanks for the response

ive added the ffmpeg with a java opts entry in the serviio.sh file
then also confirmed permissions- used the /tmp directory , i.e. 777 also added a file with 777 to /tmp

no change

ive then removed the opensource java provided with ubuntu and installed oracle java-as i saw that was the one used in your source

all to no avail

ive got both minidlna and ums woring wih my files and system config so im scratching my head here!

Hi,

I have the exact same issue, details as follows:

Fresh build of Ubuntu 13.04 64bit
Oracle Java 7 r25
FFMPEG built from source v N55619
Servio 1.3.1

To debug and ensure no file access rights I've run up the 'serviio.sh' backend as root (sudo -s then run serviio.sh from shell).

The server comes up ok and I can connect from the console (also started as root) and from a DLNA client. I add in my Library folder, tag the 'movies' and as per markw post nothing is added. The library/folder I add is owned by root and root as full access to all files contained witin-in. I've restarted the server/backend after making the changes no difference.

I copied over the 1.2.1 tabball from my existing server, unpacked the gz file in same location as 1.3.1, changed the 1.2.1/bin etc and ran in the exact same manner. I then added the same library/folder etc you get the picture. In this configuration everything works!

So to summarise on the exact same box / folder structure 1.2.1 works 1.3.1 is broken. Also as per markw checking logs/serviio.log shows no errors.

Thanks

Simon

Did you even add any shared folders to the library? Can you post screenshot of the console library tab?

hi

yes i did

set debug on
started serviio
went into console
attempted to add a library
says its added
status shows "red"
closed console
closed serviio
stopped debug

noting when i restart serviio the library has dissapeared and i need to re-add it.

After adding the library, did you click Save?

hi

on the console
under the library tab i click on "add local"
once there i put in a library path and then click ok
this returns me to the main console, there is no save option there- no options at all other than agreyed out force refresh button and the show status button which if ic lick i get a pop up
for library status which shows red against both checking for new files and checking for updates

"there is no save option there"

No dont go shouting at me ... but i have this on my remote ubuntu desktop .......
went hours trying to sort it out ... then it hit me
I could be wrong but open the box a bit and the save button is at the bottom ? THAT WAS MY PROBLEM  ... worked for me

you bloody beauty, that was it!

the default size of the box on ubuntu does not show the save button,

you have to extend the box(grab the corner and pull it about 3 cm's) which then reveals the save button!

thanks so much
