My very first post, I have been working many hours trying to search for answers as to why my xbox 360 wont see my linux server it only will see windows computers.
I read ushare is no londer supported for xbox 360 in March 2012 because required pin code for windows media center. Does anyone have Serviio streaming to there xbox 360?

I am running Ubuntu Server 13.04, I have installed Java 6, FFMPEG, Codecs, Dcraw, Serviio-1.3.1. Would apache or some other application be interferring with Serviio?

I ran command lsof -i :8895 to see if anything is using that port and nothing is.I cannot start serviio-console.sh because I get a X11 display error is this console only meant if you have a GUI linux? I have not edited any config files or the serviio.sh script is there something in there I need to change? I have attached my serviio.log after starting serviio.sh maybe that will help troubleshooting.

Is 10.1.1.109 the servers IP address? If not, bind to the right one in the console.

Otherwise check your linux firewall.

Yes 10.1.1.109 is the IP address of the server and I can get to the apache web server running on that server from other computers. I will try to get to apache web page from my Xbox when I get home. I have not opened any ports on the Linux firewall as I understand the firewall is off by default in Linux. I will verify firewall is off. Any other thoughts on what the culprit may be? Here is an update it doesnt appear to be isolated to the xbox 360, I cannot browse the server through my windows 7 PC windows media player. If I start the windows serviio server I can see the server... I reinstall ffmpeg thinking that was issue but it is not. The firewall is disabled on my linux box. I posted my log after starting service with DEBUG turned on. I can browse the web page 10.1.1.109:8895 and it comes up with completely white page. I have rebooted and tried to reinstall serviio.

Windows 7 PC windows media player is not a DLNA client and therefore won't access content on your Serviio server. If a pro user , or still in your evaluation period, try using MediaBrowser (http://serverip:23424/mediabrowser/) otherwise you will need a DLNA capable client (eg. VLC, but its slow to find content).

Oh I see, does this mean the xbox 360 is not a DLNA client either? I can access the mediabrowser but do not have a password set. How do I go about setting a password as I am on a command line only linux ubuntu server and cannot open serviio-console.sh

I was able to get to the console on my ubuntu server I had to install PHP and WebUI 1.4beta from the serviio wiki and can access the console through web broswer. For some reason I have one of my windows 7 PC listed as a device but not my Xbox. I can access the mediabrowser webpage and play a .mp4 file I uploaded that is 1080p but for some reason the resolution is only Resolution: 1152x480 when playing through the web interface why is that? I unziped the video file onto my windows PC and it plays 1080p.

Serviio works with Xbox.
You can also download the Windows version of Serviio and install just the console, and point that to your server if you prefer.

This is the problem. It points to a network issue. Are the Xbox and server on the same subnet (same IP address range)? Can your Xbox see other devices (eg. the Winows PC)? Not a linux user, but look at http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/top ... na-server/.

I used mediainfo as suggested and it is showing res as 1280x720. However the same video in mediabrower is only showing 854x480 and looks very pixely.



The xbox can see other windows PC on same network. Everything is on the 10.1.1.0 network with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. When I test PC connection on the Xbox and do a TCPDUMP on the linux server I can see the xbox broadcast packets but linux doesnt respond only see windows PC address respond. I tried the plex suggestion ifconfig p4p1 allmulti promisc but doesnt work. I have also added the multicast route 239.0.0.0.

Ensure MediaBrowser is set to "Original" quality (between the slider and the Mute symbol, along the bottom when the video is playing).

Multicast: some people have also added 224.0.0.0 as a multicast address, or added a specific router to their gateway eg. #route add -net 239.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 gw 10.1.1.1. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=415&p=2843#p2837, but I am not a linux user so others (that are) may be able to provide more asiistance.

Duh I feel like such a noob my quality wasnt set to original in the mediabrowser.....however still having issues with my xbox seeing serviio even after adding that multicast route.

I found it interesting the serviio is only seeing one device under the render profile from the console. 10.1.1.102 which is a windows 7 computer and is shut off at the moment... I removed it and refreshed but still coming back up.
