Video Metadata Info

I have selected a video folder on my hard drive in Serviio Library->Shared Folders and checked "Metadata". In Metadata->Video I select "Online metadata sources" for Descriptive metadata.

As I scan my Serviio video folders using WDTV Live, I see the correct thumbnail images for nearly all my movie videos. However, I do not see for any of them info such as: Date, Genre, Director or Actor. Is this information typically captured as metadata for videos when selecting "Online metadata sources"? If so, how do I troubleshoot this to figure out why this info is not displaying?

Thanks!

Serviio captures them but none of the renderers use that data.

I did discover how to troubleshoot this. By using Serviio Mediabrowser, you can see which videos have metadata info and which videos do not. I was able to ascertain that Serviio is indeed capturing XBMC .nfo file metadata. It's just that WDTV Live will not display it.

Thanks for the response.

Just for clarification: You are saying that Serviio does serve the video metadata it finds (assuming you have provided it), but players such as WDTV Live do not use it?

I want to contact WD to request this feature, but I want to be sure that Serviio is sending the data over the dnla connection. And, I don't understand at all what is supposed to work and why. So, any info you can provide to assist in my query would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can see what Serviio uses using AV Media Controller from Intel tools (file properties). there is description, genre, etc. Actors are not sent, as it slows down browsing and no renderers actually use that info anyway.
