Serviio Console showing multiple devices not on my network!!

Hi All,

I am running Servio on OSX and can't understand what's going on:

My network is fully secured behind a firewall and has a 192.0.1.xxx subnet, with no other devices on my network. However, I am seeing dozens of devices on 10.100.xxx.xxx, most unrecognized but some recognized devices. See screenshot below.

I can't ping any of these devices and I have no idea how these devices are being detected. Any help would be appreciated.

That's not the point. The point is that there are devices (at all, recognized or not) showing up from the 10.100.x.x network - I can't ping anything on this subnet yet it showing these devices have access to my Serviio server??

How are devices not on my network able to access Serviio when I'm behind a firewall and the 10.100.x.x address is a private subnet?

As my wife would say, "that's a you problem". But seriously we can't even begin to help until we understand what your network looks like and how it is set up. Please describe in detail and if possible a quick chart would help too.

This is a list of every dlna device ever detected on your network. also the dot color will tell you if it's active or not.
"unrecognized device | Generic Profile" are usually windows machines. and if you have a bunch of these entries you might have a laptop on wireless that keeps pulling new IPs or something similar.
are you seeing any named devices on your network that shouldn't be there like that Sony in your screen grab?

First of all do you actually have any of those devices that are named in that list like the Xbox, Sony BD Player? If not then you need to go into your routers DHCP table and see what address groups it assigns. If it is assigning a group starting with 192.168..... then you have a something on your network assigning that group of address. More than likely a WiFi access point or router. Your router can have a 192.168.0.xxx address but your DHCP server assign a different group of addresses. My WD Book Live shows up as an unrecognized device, not sure why as it doesn't actually play media files. What I would do is check the IP address of all your "networked" devices and compile a list of them, it will help you narrow down what is going on. I can't stress enough to people with home networks to make a IP listing of all devices on their network and actually make a network connection map. It makes troubleshooting much easier. I know on my network I have over 20 devices on my network and other than the 3 android tablets everything has a static IP address. I really hate not knowing what is connected to my network.

FYI, and just my experience, had that start to happen to me as well about 1-2 months ago.

In the end, I just happen to try turning off metadata searching complelely and I've haven't seen any strange addresses since then.

Could be just a coincidence, not sure. And since I search by folders only, no big deal for me.

That's just it, I don't have any of those devices. All my DHCP address ranges are 192.168.1.x, I have no idea where these 10.100.x.x devices are coming from or how they are able to access my Serviio server.

I've removed all the devices and unchecked "allow new devices" - that's put a stop to it for now, but I'm concerned that when I need to reconnect my WD TV Live, if it DHCP's a new IP, it won't be allowed by Serviio, so I'll have to re-allow new devices. Uhg. We'll see...

Thanks to all for their consideration, advice and feedback!
