Missing music files

I installed Serviio yesterday to give it a try with my Samsung TV and am finding that Serviio is not finding all of my music. For example, for a particular artist only 1 of 3 CD's are showing up. All are under the same artist folder. I have a mix of mp4 and mp3 files. None are DRM files. The Samsung TV see all of my music fine using DLNA. I am looking for a DLNA software server to improve performance of the DLNA media sharing on the TV. Just using Samsung and Windows is extremely slow and I have not figured out why. I am also trying TVMOBiLi and am comparing that to Serviio. TVMOBiLi finds all of my music files fine, but has other issues and bugs.

Re: Missing music files

I do not see anything in the error log. I can see all of the messages where it is going through and adding music, but no errors when it skips songs/albums. I attached a zip file of the log since the log exceeded the max file size attachment. I did also try uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling to see if the installation was bad. I still get the same results and albums that are not listed. Funny thing is the top folder for an artist may show the artwork of the missing album in that folder. So for example, in the Jason Aldean folder there is only one album showing in the media browser (Wide Open), but the top Jason Aldean folder in the media browser shows the artwork for his album "My Kinda Party". Both albums are stored as .mP4a files. I have no DRM music on my machine.

Are they also missing if you go through the Folders category?

Re: Missing music files

I did not even know that browsing through folders in the Serviio Media Browser was an option. I tried that and the albums are listed when browsing by folders. It still does not make much sense since I view the same albums by album artist on a Samsung TV through Windows regular DLNA?? I did look at the files in iTunes and see that the Album Artist field is blank on the missing albums. I guess Serviio is a little more strict and does not look at the Artist field by default if the Album Artist field is blank??

Re: Missing music files

I am now running 1.4.1.2 and am still having issues with some missing music files. I can see the music when browsing by folder in Serviio, but for some reason some album(s) do not show up when browsing by artist or album artist. I have compared the info of the problem album with another album from that same artist and everything is fine. Samsung DLNA, Media Center, etc all see all of the albums, it is only Serviio. I did initially have issues with 1.4.1.1 splitting up some artists into multiple folders, but that appears to have been fixed with 1.4.1.2. Any idea what I could be missing?

Re: Missing music files

Sorry, I forgot to add the log file to my last post. Funny thing is, the log shows all of the files that are missing being seen and added by Serviio. I am having issues with an Allman Brothers album A Decade of Hits 1969-79. Serviio adds all of the .mp3 songs to the library, just like the other .m4a album after it. However, when browsing by artist or album artist I can only see the .m4a album.

Re: Missing music files

Looks like it cannot retrieve the ID3 tag inside the file (the title used is the file name, as you can see in the log.).

If you could send me one of the files to test, I'd have a look.

Re: Missing music files

I could not attach the file since it is >500K so I dropped the file on Skydrive https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B ... 8DB4%21110 Let me know if you cannot access it or download it.

Re: Missing music files

OK, so I posted another file on Skydrive called FileAfter.zip. FileAfter contains the same song that Serviio now recognizes. I highlighted the album that was not showing up in Windows Media Player, right clicked, and selected Find Album Info. After doing that and refreshing Serviio, the album now shows up under the correct Artist and Album Artist folder. Not sure what was changed, but thought you might like to look at both files to see why Serviio would not pick up the tag info like the other media devices I use.

Re: Missing music files

Thanks, i looked at the file and indeed the library Serviio uses to read mp3 tags is not recognizing the tags. not much i can do other than wait for a new version and hope it'll be fixed.

Re: Missing music files

I am running the latest Serviio and have a similar issue with missing music. I can see the music files when I browse by folder but cannot see it when I look by artist. I tried changing the name to a different name and then back but that did not work. Even though I can see the music in the file view it appears Serviio does not recognize the artist name. Any ideas to troubleshoot or resolve issues like this?
