Missing image for series in MediaBrowser

First off all I want to say that serviio is for me the best DLNA server application I've used ever. It works fine with several devices like Samsung BlueRay player, Panasonic HD Cable Receiver and my Google Nexus 4.

But there is one small problem that is a little bit annoying for me. In the MediaBrowser and also on in the Android app for 3 series an image is missing in the Series overview. The series are Caprica, The Fear and Strike Back. For the last two (The Fear and Strike Back) it work in the past, for Caprica it never worked. I don't have any idea why it doesn't work. I renamed the folder, moved it, etc.pp.

I configured serviio in that way that serviio uses the online meta data from theTVDB.com. I've checked the spelling of the series name, I've copied the series name, but nothing will work. There is still no picture in the overview.

Meanwhile I have the RazorSQL application installed on my PC and opened the serviio DB. What I have found is that in the SERIES table the column COVER_IMMAGE_ID is NULL. My idea is now to add a row in the table COVER_IMAGE for each series without an image. I recognized that the SD and HD version of the images are saved as BLOB binary data in the columns IMAGE_DATA and IMAGE_DATA_HD.

Do you know a tool that converts a JPEG into the binary data?! Will my idea work?!

It should work. Rename the folder, press Force refresh. Then enable detailed logging and add the folder again.

Thanks for your answer!

I renamed the folder from series "The Fear" to BlaBlaBla, then I anabled the detailed logging, renamed the folder back from blablabla to "The Fear" and started serviio services and console. Here is the log after the restart of serviio services.

It looks like The fear has no series fanart on thetvdb.com

http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=78476&lid=7

I tried caprice and that should work, with the process above.

But there is a poster saved on thetvdb.com (http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=264605&lid=14). I configured serviio for german information and for german fan art exists for The Fear and also for Caprica, too. So if I understood the manual correct serviio should find the metadata in german if I configured it for german, shouldn't it?! It finds the series summary / description and the content description per episode, so why not the poster?!

EDIT: If I renamed the folder to Caprice as you described nothing will be found because no entry exists for series Caprice in theTVDB. So it must be named Caprica. Here is the link to the german entry in the TVDB: http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=85040&lid=14.

The Fear - there are 2 or 3 different series with similar name. The language is not used when searching, only when retrieving metadata. So if you name the folder 'The fear (UK)' it should get the proper series (id 264605) which includes the german translation and the poster.

Thanks for the hint with UK, although it's not the ideal solution. Nevertheless there are 2 series where it still doesn't work: Caprica , as already mentioned, and Strike Back, there is no poster shown, too.

May you can find a solution for one of the next planned versions to improve this functionality?! ;) Or implementing a functionality to include an own poster if serviio won't find one on theTVDB.com parallel to the normal online retrieval.
