Any other option apart from TVDB

Ok, so I've been having a few troubles with some of my TV series, namely that series numbers don't line up to what I'm seeing on TVDB. Turns out, they're trolling a lot of series by using some random season/episode number they consider "official" as opposed to airdate/releasedate. ARe there any other options on the serviio for metadata that use the proper season/episode formats or is there some plugin that converts the stupid tvdb numbers to the correct ones? I really don't want to be renumbering dozens of files on some series because these idiots are trying to pull a Microsoft...

Or at the very least, is there a way to get metadata via the "absolute episode number" as opposed to the season/episode method? TVDB supports this for anime and they have gone and used a downright stupid approach to numbering anime that makes no sense.

Not sure who you're reffering to as idiots - I assume the people who participate on building the open database in their free time? I'd have thought that you could just login to thetvdb.org and fix the metadata.

Otherwise you could use .nfo files for all your files. Or use the file renamer linked somewhere in this forum (see 3rd party tools)
