Remote access from Internet

Hi
I'm new here, because the Windows Media Player UPnP server has bugs that doesn't show all my content all the time (at least I had problems with my Marantz receiver's DLNA that couldn't see all my contents on the PC).

There are very interesting features in Serviio like accessing from Internet to the library on PC and stream content to the accessing device (e.g. iPhone, PC, etc.). But I have some difficulties finding how to do it in the manual.

I'd be grateful if anyone can explain me how to share my contents across Internet and access it securely with a password. All I want to do is to stream contents from my PC (where I installed Serviio) to any device whether on my local network or from Internet.

You may want to know that I disabled UPnP on my router for outside connections (I, of course run UPnP in my local network). This is for security reasons as I don't want UPnP message exchanges taking place to/from Internet without my consent.

So is there any way for Serviio to listen on a given port number that I would manually open on my router ?
And is there any app for the renderer device (the client side) like an iPhone where it can accepts connecting to some particular port ?

As an example, Airplayit is an iphone client app that accept connecting to the server on a particular configurable port. It is probably not exactly a UPnP app (since it doesn't scan automatically for UPnP port negotiation).

Maybe I'm day dreaming, please tell me if it is possible. Otherwise, please explain how remote access works. Am I constrained to enable UPnP on my router's outside (Internet) connections ?

thanks

All possible if you are a Pro user (or during your evaluation period) by using Mediabrowser, which comes with Serviio. You need to forward port 23424 in your router. See http://www.serviio.org/mediabrowser?hig ... 1vdGUiXQ==.
