WDTV Live, no subtitles and can't fastforward

Hi,

I have an old WD TV Live HD and there seem to be some issues with the WDTV Live profile in Serviio.
The video is .mkv and subtitle .srt. They have the exact same name. I also tested adding -en in the end of the subtitle filename but didn't help (got en added as preferred language in Serviio settings).
I'm able to play videos without problems, but it's not recognizing any subtitles and as soon as I'm trying to fastforward the movie just freeze and I have to use the exit button on my remote to go back and replay the video from beginning.

I tested using the Generic DLNA profile and it started to work pretty good. It's now playing the subtitle automatically (I can't select the subtitle in the menu though, just like it was hardcoded). But fastforwarding still don't work very good. I tested changing the WDTV Live profile slightly, but it didn't make any difference... I didn't restart the server though, I just changed profile to Generic and back to WDTV Live - assumed that would be enough.

This is what I changed it to:
  Code:
<Subtitles>
   <SoftSubs mime-type="text/srt" />
   <HardSubs>
      <RequiredFor container="matroska" />
   </HardSubs>
</Subtitles>

It works fine to play the video via Network Share, it loads the subtitle correctly and it also works to fast forward without problems.. but I want to use Serviio because of it's simplicity, categorizing and such. If there's any possibility to solve this I would be very glad :)

Best regards,
Flaxe

You have to restart the service / PC for the changed profile to be loaded.

But your change means it encodes the subtitle into the stream.

Hi. Yea.. I noticed that the day after. The subtitles are now hardcoded into the video (encoded into the stream as you said) but there are still problems with rewind/forward.
I want to remember that it worked fine before the last Serviio update, but I could be wrong. If there's any way to downgrade to the previous version I could try doing that and see if it works better.

Edit: Okay, I found out how to download the previous version (1.4.1.1) and will test using it tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

I tested with the previous version but it didn't help. I kept testing with several things and discovered that the problem seem to be external subtitles, it don't seem to work with external subtitles on any movie I got. I guess I should've noticed this before :roll:
I really don't know what could cause it, why it's not loading the external subs. They have the correct naming - exactly the same as the video name except the extension (.mkv vs .srt). I think the problem lies somewhere either in my WDTVLive or the Serviio profile (or however it handles that particular device).

I tested using an app called MediaHouse (UPnP / DLNA Browser) on my android phone to connect to Serviio and then watched the video with MX Player, and it worked perfectly. The profile used is the Generic DLNA Profile.
Since it works on my phone but not on my WDTVLive, I'm not sure what to do... I have done a factory reset of my WDTV but it didn't help.

Here's an example of a movie that don't work with the external subtitle:
Subtitle filename: centurion.1080p.srt
Movie filename: centurion.1080p.mkv
