Serviio

So I recently purchased a Roku 3 and there are a few "glitches" that I want to figure out. The Roku has no problem playing the different formats, however, what it doesn't do:

1) fast forward to a further point (it shows it fast forwarding but continues playing at original point);

2) if a movie is stopped, then com back to later your spot isn't saved (ie: resume play); you have to start all over again.

I also have a Samsung DVD with Samsung AllShare and these issues aren't a problem- just the Roku.

So is this something with Serviio and Roku? Is there something in the settings I'm missing?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's the Roku. In the Roku beta forums there has been much discussion about the FF issue. I believe that if you are watching a MP4 video, FF will work. MP4 does not require transcoding, but almost everything else does. I've tweaked the Roku profile a little and have it working pretty well.

My Sony players will only resume from the place I stopped as long as I haven't loaded another video. Otherwise, it starts all over again. Again, it's the player that controls that. Serviio has a field in the database that stores where the playback was stopped, but the player has to use it.

Hello, I noticed you have fixed the FF issue in the beta forums. Would you mind posting that profile? FF works on .mp4 but nothing else. Now that I fixed the audio issue, FF and Rewind are all I have left to fix.

I was mistaken when I thought FF was working on transcoded files. It only appears to be working with MP4 videos. I don't FF or rewind very often, so I can't say for sure what the latest status is.

Well, I just tried it with a video that I knew would be transcoded. Once the movie started, I let it sit on pause for about 5 minutes to let transcoding get ahead of the game. When I tried to FF, I only moved about a second ahead. Not worth much

As far as the profile, here's what I'm using now. I still have a few issues with really high bitrate videos, but only on my test server, which doesn't have as much power as my primary Serviio machine. You might notice that I commented out a line (2nd line after the Transcoding tag) that transcoded if dca audio (DTS) was found. That is because the Roku will pass normal DTS through the HDMI cable to my A/V receiver. If you are sending this directly to a TV, you should probably uncomment that line, as most TVs can't process DTS audio.
