How do I broadcast to a device?

I'm in Mac OS X, and I can't do anything. When I start Serviio console (serviio is already started) nothing happens. The second console icon appears, then it just quits after a few seconds.

Will the console (if it were to work) let me choose renderers (e.g. multiple devices around the house)?

Make sure you're not using Java 8 on OSX. The console will let you share some files and setup Serviio, you don't need it for the actual streaming.

I'm using Java 6. What I really want to do is broadcast any audio from my computer (e.g. playing music in my browser then broadcasting that sound from the audio card). Is it possible?

It's not really the main use case. For broadcasting you can use VLC, then perhaps add it to Serviio as a live audio stream which can be accessed from the devices - but if you want to play it on multiple DLNA devices around the house, they'll not be synced (they each use different buffering)

For sure. Yeah, I'd just like to play music around the house on various devices at the same time. I looked at VLC but it doesn't seem to have an option to broadcast the system's audio. I'm surprised there isn't an easy way to do this. I spent 3 hours looking for apps and programs yesterday, but I haven't found anything. I was hoping for a 5-minute install this and that and boom, easy and done, but that wasn't the case so far.
