Sony Bravia 50R550A TV; Mac mini computer
With OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) I have no problem accessing Serviio from the TV
Upgraded to OS X 10.9.4 (Mavericks) and cannot access Serviio from the TV any more

On the TV with 10.9.4 on the computer:
Home>Media>Photo: the Serviio logo is displayed
Network Setup>Check Connection: Wireless Device (found), Local Access (OK), Internet Access (OK)
Home Media Setup>Media Server Troubleshooting>Diagnostic Check: Serviio (unsuccessful)

On launching Serviio 1.4.1.2 first time in Mavericks I received an alert to install java, which I did. Also restarted the computer.
Serviio.app does not/not hide after being launched in 10.9.4
Serviio.app does hide after launch in 10.8.5, as expected

From other posts I see others have no problem with Serviio 1.4.1.2 in Mavericks.

Additional observations to my previous post.

1. On launch Serviio.app icon in the dock continues to pulse, that is, srart-up does not complete. Nevertheless, Serviio Console still sees the server as running.

2. I have to use Force Quit to quit Serviio.app.

Problem solved!

In System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options... make sure "Enable stealth mode" is not/not enabled. Administrator authorisation is required to change Firewall settings.

This setting also applies to Mac OS X 10.8.5 and probably other versions of OS X.

Now, in 10.9.4 only, Serviio.app starts OK but still does not hide. It must be Force Quit to close. Nevertheless, it does communicate with the Bravia TV.
