I can´t start Serviio

Hi,

I can´t start Serviio on windows 7. I´ve downloaded the last version 1.4.1.2 from http://serviio.org/download and installed aparently without any problem. Then, it appears in my programs list (not in the task bar, next to windows clock) and in the installation it hasn´t been created a desktop icon either.
It seems the installation has worked fine but I can´t run it, it doesn´t start.
Minimun requirements:
I have my hard disc almost empty and when I go to the java website to check my current version it says I have the last version and I don´t need to update.

It worked fine some months ago in the same pc but now something is wrong. Of course, I tried to erase the program and then reinstall a few times

Any idea?

Off hand I do not know what the problem is but the first thing I would do is check the Serviio log file. In Linux the log file is in the Serviio directory in the Home folder, but I do not know where it is is Windows but I'm sure it is there somewhere, maybe check in the file system directory.

Do you run Win7 64-bit? If so, make sure you have installed both 32-bit and 64-bit Java packages. What happens if you open the Serviio Console from the system tray (next to the clock). Did you check the log file for errors? Did you check all resources mentioned in http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1289?

I run Windows 7 64-bit. I´m not sure if I have 32-bit Java package installed, I might have erased it when I updated Java, I can´t remember... I´ll have a look as soon as I get home. Thank you very much for your advice.

Lately I´ve had problems to start the program Jdownloader, does it work on Java too?

Thanks again.

The Java Control Panel shows you which Java environments are installed. The post-installation on-line check may just look for the Java package matching the OS, in your case it's fine as long as the latest 64-bit version is detected. Anyway, if you don't have 32-bit Java installed, applications depending on it won't work (properly).

If you DO happen to have 32-bit Java installed already, you'll have to dig deeper I'm afraid. I recommend the structured approach outlined in zip's "READ BEFORE POSTING !!!" post.

  Code:
I´ve had problems to start the program Jdownloader, does it work on Java too?

Me thinks that's what the "J" in "JDownloader" stands for.

I´ve just installed 32-bit Java package and it´s updates, then I´ve installed Serviio again and...

It works!!!!! or at least I can see the program´s console.

As it´s too late here, tomorrow I´ll have a look if the Android tv box which I use with a DLNA program is able to conect with my pc and shows Serviio as it used to do.

Thanks Lowlander for your help. I´ve learnt from you that even if you have a Windows 64-bit, you need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java packages. I didn´t know that.

I´m glad not only for having solved this matter but also for having learned something new.

In the end, Serviio is working 100% ok again.

I seems the problem was I run Windows 7 64-bit and I had not installed 32-bit Java package.

Thank you very much Lowlander. ;)
