CPU Utlization Issues

Hi, I have a Serviio installation is working well as far as Serviio itself is concerned.

The problem is, the PC that hosts Serviio is also used as a general purpose computer. The core issue is that local video playback using VLC or Media Player is terrible and CPU utilization hits 100% if Serviio is running. There is a rather large video library attached, and obviously that may be part of the issue. If I stop the serviio service, performance returns to normal and the same videos that were pinning the CPU at 100% take around 20% of the CPU.

I've observed that the Serviio service tends to use a large amount of system memory, often 200MB or more (though it shouldn't be enough to cause problems) and ffmpeg is chewing up CPU cycles at least some of the time (even when nothing is being served up by Serviio).

What can I do to reduce CPU utilization? Last night I tried turning off transcoding, but it didn't help immediately (I need to check this again tonight).

If you just recently added a lot of files to the library, then it'll be indexed (using ffmpeg) and might take some time. Do you see something in the log?

Serviio console was becoming unresponsive so I uninstalled everything... going to try again.

Is there any way to lighten the load for the indeing? There is a very l;arge amount of content.

No, but it only does it on the initial scan.
