All files greyed out 2008 macbookpro

1)I want to stream live watchESPN sports programs to my tv
2)Just be able to show any file on my mac to my TV
I have not been able to accomplish either one. I am no techy and only have time to dabble not thoroughly understand everything. Usually I can figure everything out myself reading blogs etc but this one has me stumped.
I have a Macbook pro early 2008 10.5.8 (I know its old but it cost me a lot, it has to last awhile)
My TV is a Panasonic Viera 2014 smart TV
I am running the latest serviio version 1.4.1.2
Serviio reads my TV and I can access the default folders on my TV. HOWEVER I cannot add any files at all to the library as everything is greyed out. I have all the permissions open.
Is my OS just too old? Any help?
Also I dont even know where to begin with the espn online streaming. Ive read a bunch of stuff and understand very little. What I have tried so far has been fruitless. I need a lot of help.
