1.5.1 won't install - windows vista home premium

I installed serviio 1.5 about 2 weeks ago and everything went just fine. Serviio worked just like it should. A few days ago I received a notice that version 1.5.1 was available and so I downloaded it (serviio-1.5.1-win-setup.exe) and ran it, but nothing happens when I try to execute the new install (disk activity for a bit and then nothing). Don't see anything in task manage that indicates anything is happening either - ie no processes, etc. associated with the serviio 1.5.1 install.

I uninstalled version 1.5 and tried the 1.5.1 install again but same results.

Toshiba laptop, windows vista home premium SP2, 4 gig of mem. and version 1.5 works fine.

No Joy. Same same. Nothing happens when install is started. No processes show up in task manager, etc.

OK. Figured it out. I have never had to do this on any install before.

I right-clicked the install file and looked at properties just as a curiosity. Under the general tab (at the bottom of the properties box was a little statement titled "Security" and read: "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." It had an "Unblock" button on the right (see attached screen shot). I clicked the "Unblock" button and tried the install and it ran as normal.

I downloaded the install file again, suspecting there is something going on with the signing certificate and again looked at the properties for the install file and viewed the signing certificate and installed the signing certificate, just to see if that made a difference - it didn't - still no install.

Interesting thing is I have downloaded lots of other .exe files and their properties also show the security statement as per above, yet they install without having to "Unblock" them.

So, in the end I'm still not sure what the issue is that is preventing the install "Out of the box". I do notice that the signer for the signing certificate for the 1.5.1 version is "Six Lines Ltd" and the signer for the 1.5 version is "Penline Consulting Ltd". so don't know if it is a certificate chain issue or what.

Anyway, very interesting...

I've never noticed that button before, and as you mentioned I've installed many programs (including Serviio 1.5.1) without needing it. Curious... :?

Thanks for letting everyone know about it. Might solve other puzzling happenings :D

I have 1.5.1 installed on both Home Premium and Ultimate. Both are 64 bit Windows 7. No issues with either. Wondering if you are having an anti-virus blocking issue that hadn't occurred before.

Oddly, with this being a month old post, I cannot get 1.5.1 to install on an xp pro box. But it worked fine on another pc 5 feet away.

I am setting up a server for my friend and the .exe file will not install. The 2 boxes are on the same LAN for now, but that should not be an issue to my knowledge.
This is a fresh copy of xp. No other programs, firewalls or A/V are installed. Just XP SP2 and
I was able to install teamviewer before it and ccleaner after it. But that program will not run for reason.
I have a few other things I wanna try first before I start pointing fingers at the culprit.

Going to get latest updates. Sp3 for instance
Look for reg errors
Try run as admin
Short of an older version I am out of ideas
