Serviio, Win 7 64-bit, Java, WDTVLive Streaming
A few days ago I was updating the Graphics Drivers on my Windows 7 64-bit Computer. I opted to use the system checker to ensure I installed the correct drivers and this prompted me for a Java Update first. My Browsers (FireFox and IE) are apparently both 32-bit, and so when the Updated Java was installed it offered to remove old Java and I said yes.
At that point, Serviio Console 1.4.1.2 would no longer run. I figured out it was due to the removal of all 64-bit Java on the machine, so I downloaded and installed the latest 64-bit Java 8 Update 40, same update as the 32-bit already installed.
From that point forward my WD TV Live Streaming Media Player started behaving badly. Once a show was watched at least a quarter of the way in the action of fast forwarding, rewinding, or stopping would fail. The Audio would keep playing but the show would not. To get the show or another show to play I then had to power cycle my WD TV Live Streaming Media Player.
Thinking this was due t the Java Update compatibility with other software, I then installed available Windows Updates with no resolution. I then installed the latest Serviio 1.5.2 which I am running now, still with no resolution. I then updated the firmware on my WD TV Live Streaming Media Player to the latest available from 1.16.13 to 2.02.32 still with no resolution.
Thinking the issue starting when Java was updated must have simply been a coincidence, and that the fault must lie with the WDTV, I removed the device and placed my older WD TV Live Box instead. The issue continued with that box also, pointing the issue squarely with my Computer and the Software Installed.
I have performed a "removal" of Serviio, restarted the computer, then re-installed 1.5.2 from scratch, rebuilding the Library ad reconnecting the devices. The problem still persists.
I have removed all JAVA and used JavaRa to remove all bad links and files, restarted computer and then re-installed 64-bit only JRE 8U40, but still the problem persists.
The only other thing I can think of that was changed the day Java was updated, was the Graphics Driver, NVIDIA GForce GT430. Surely local Graphics Drivers would not interfere with transcoding of video from Serviio to WD TV Live. But the only thing I can think to do is to roll back the Computer OS to the day Java was updated, uninstall Java, uninstall GForce GT430, Uninstall Serviio, restart and reinstall Serviio from scratch again, however that is a lot of work to do with no guarantee it will resolve the problem.
I am therefore hoping that someone else has experienced this problem, or could direct me how to identify whether Serviio has any other log files which may indicate the "actual" problem, as the one I have found does not.
