WHS v1 Shared Folders not displayed in Library

Howdy,

Installed latest version of Serviio on my WHS v1 box last night. Install was perfect and even installed Java 6. Nice job!!

WHS v1 system:
Dell 330 w 1800MHz P4 and 512 RAM
4TB of internal storage capacity for backups including 335GB of shared folders:
Photo Shared folder: 334GB, approx. 177,000 images
Video Shared folder: 1 GB, One video for testing. More will be added once everything is working. (I hope the old P4 is up to streaming....)

Reason for Serviio install was to view and share photos/videos on a Samsung TV.
Serviio found the Samsung on the network in about 10 minutes. And the Samsung found the Serviio WHS Shared folders and I can navigate to all.
So far everything was golden...except the WHS Shared folders content is not showing in the Serviio Libraries on the WHS console (and of course the Samsung).
Using the WHS Console;
1) I've clicked the "Refresh List" a couple times. Nothing appears to happen. No log activity.
2) I've clicked the "Force Update" a couple times and get a brief spurt of "Updating Libraries", but it goes back to idle in a second or two. See below:

2015-04-12 11:06:07,866 INFO [LibraryAdditionsCheckerThread] Finished looking for newly added files
2015-04-12 11:06:08,319 INFO [LibraryUpdatesCheckerThread] Finished looking for updates to currently shared files

2015-04-12 11:06:09,772 INFO [LibraryAdditionsCheckerThread] Started looking for newly added files

3) I tried manually Adding the Shared Photo Folder to the Library and that seemed to work...but the "Updating Libraries" status was on for hours. I stopped and checked the log and discovered it was taking at least 2 minutes per photo to add. Almost all the photos are 2-4MB jpegs with one folder containing 25MB jpegs of scanned 35MM images.
Zoowie. With 177,000 images it will take a year (231+ days) to Add all the photos!?

2015-04-11 22:53:46,319 INFO [LibraryAdditionsCheckerThread] Added file 'IMG_0601.JPG' (title: IMG_0601) to Library

4) No log activity except when clicking on "Force Update". The Update interval of 5 minutes doesn't appear to be functioning or display in log.

Serviio is configured w default settings. Nothing has been changed.
See attached for image of Library and Presentation WHS Console tab.

I must have missed something in the setup or settings.
Can you help?

Thanks,
MnM3

UPDATE: Shared Video folder content displays in Serviio Library and Samsung! (AKA movie viewing works)

While waiting for assistance on the Shared Photo Folder challenge, I though I'd try manually adding the Shared Video folder.
After entering the path to the WHS Shared Folders (D:\shares\Videos) into the Serviio Library; I got the following error message pop up - "There was an error updating the library". However, no error message was indicated in log.

After canceling the error message, the Shared Folder path appeared in the WHS Console Serviio Library. I clicked "Force Update" and in about a minute and half the status returned to idle.
I checked the Samsung TV Serviio Server and VoilĂ  the movie was there! I opened it and it played perfectly. Wahoo.
I'll continue to load and test movies.

BTW - Anytime I edit the folder details (for Meta or Scan), I get the pop up error message - "There was an error updating the library". Again, no log record.

The add-in is outdated, use the latest Serviio and install it using remote desktop.

Images probably take long because it creates thumbnails and your CPU is slow. You can turn off creating thumbnails in the console (metadata tab)

Yep, that dashboard plug-in hasn't worked since Serviio 0.6.2, or something like that. I tried it on my WHS 2011 box about a year or so ago, and never could get it to work.

Thanks for the quick reply.

As suggested, I removed the old add-in and installed the new version via remote desktop.
Added the local paths to the Shared folders for Photos and Video.
Took about 2 minutes to find files and start refreshing.
1GB videos took about 5 seconds apiece.
Photos are refreshing much faster at an average of about 1000 photos per 7 minutes. I'll see how many are loaded after chewing all night.

I tried viewing a video, but the TV give an error that "cannot complete function" after "loading" for about 30 seconds. Serviio server is visible and folders appear, but I can't get to content. I'll wait for the photos to refresh a day or so and then try again. I suspect the ancient 2002 WHS P4 can only do so much. ;)

Thanks again for the help.

UPDATE:

All is good.
Videos display on TV and play in HD...at least the formats I've tried.
Photos are chugging along refreshing themselves and are now viewable on TV.

Pretty dang good that the software works on an old P4 processor. Excellent programming. Awesome product!!
Thanks for the hard work!

Yeah, older hardware will slow things down. Glad you got a handle on it!

Just checking, was that a typo or not regarding your Java version? You should be running Java 8, not 6.
I'm running a WHSv1 myself with a Phenom II X2 550 (3.11 GHz) and 4 GB RAM, 4x2 TB WD RED drives.
Working really well with my Samsung TV apart from the radio stations which are not playing well any more (Listed but complains about unsupported format)

I would suggest that you check if you can add more RAM as 512 MB is too little. My server is usually using about 800 MB - 1 GB when I'm not doing anything at all.
