Hi,

First of all, hello to everybody, this is my first post. I'd like to apologise if this is thread is duplicated, I have tried to find information about this issue but have not found anything. So, in case this is new, maybe this thread can help others with the same problem :-)

I'm testing Serviio, and I find it incredible, it's a very complete software and I'm sure I'll buy the Pro version, it's absolutelly worth it. My problem is:

While I'm inside my LAN everything works fine (DLNA on my TV, mediabrowser in my tablets...), I can play videos with my Ipad, Laptop etc. So I have tried to configure my router so that I can access Serviio outside. I usually travel a lot so it will be glad if I can access all my media when I'm abroad.

I have opened the ports (8895 TCP and 1900 UDP), and I can play videos with my laptop when I'm in another network (my parent's wifi, for example). Therefore I can assume that the router configuration is OK. Then I try with my Ipad and do the following:

- Access the mediabrowser -> I see the login screen
- Type my password -> I see my folders (series, movies, etc)
- I can see the catalogue, read the information about the movies and everything is OK, but when I push the "Play" button, no video is played. The icon changes (I don't know how to say in english. It's "crossed"?)

Then I have gone to the Serviio console -> Remote tab, and tried with several configurations:

- Checking "Configure router automatically" and filling an static IP address
- Checking "Configure router automatically" and using a domain name
- Checking "Configure router automatically" and not filling anything
- Not checking "Configure router automatically"

When I save and check connectivity, I see the red cross telling me that something is wrong.

Anybody else is having this issue?

Thank you very much in advance

Test your "Configure Router Automatically" setting using something like http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to test that port 23424 is open. If it isnt, you need to manually forward that port within your router - how to do so depends on the router model - Google is your friend for that.

When you say it works at your parents (on your laptop) - your Serviio server is at home (it's not also on your laptop), and you are accessing Mediabrowser using your external IP address (or dynDNS)?- is that correct?

ps. remote access will only work with the Pro version, or while you are in your initial 15 day evaluation period.

Hi,

the problem had to do with open ports. In the admin page of my router they appeared as open, but when I tried to access it did not work. I called to my ISP and they had to reset my router to factory settings. Then I repeated the process and everything worked fine.

Sorry for the delay to give an answer, but I have been abroad until yesterday night :-)

So everything is ok.

Thank you very much!
